Digital Learning Practice

Training day is not the same as still being able to do it

Digital Learning Practice turns a one-off session into short, spaced practice that looks like the real decision at work. We measure what people can still do weeks later — not who turned up, and not who clicked Complete.

Employers, councils, housing associations, charities and SMEs pay for this. That is what funds the free lessons. Nothing on the free side is paywalled, delayed, or made worse to sell a programme.

One behaviour. Practice over weeks. A delayed check. A readout you can defend.

Who it is for
  • A team that has already had a day, a six-week course, or equivalent in-house training, and needs the skill to hold
  • A manager who can see licences used poorly, or AI used without anyone checking what goes in
  • An L&D or digital lead who is tired of completion reports that do not match what happens on the job
  • Buyers in UK public and third sector who need plain scope, fixed prices where possible, and no platform lock-in
Who it is not for
  • Organisations looking for an LMS replacement
  • Buyers who want certificates as proof of competence
  • Anyone who wants set-and-forget microlearning with no manager role
  • AI specialists and developers — the teaching is for general users and the people who support them

What it is

Digital Learning Practice is the organisational offer that sits on top of How To Be Digital’s teaching method.

You pick one observable workplace behaviour. We convert existing training into short retrieval and application tasks. People practise across weeks. Managers use a small observation checklist. At a date you agree up front, we run a delayed check and a plain readout: retention, transfer, observed behaviour, and — where you have a real measure — a business outcome.

It uses the same teaching ideas already published on the free site: backward design, Merrill, Sweller, Mayer, Rosenshine, retrieval and spacing (Roediger & Karpicke), Knowles. Plus the Study Hub themes we honour in practice design: spaced learning, self-testing, interleaving, active engagement, and summarise-from-memory after a gap.

What it is not
  • Not an account-based learner platform for individuals on the free site
  • Not streaks, badges, scores, or progress bars aimed at the learner
  • Not end quizzes as completion
  • Not a claim that spacing always works or that one schedule fits every skill
  • Not a guarantee of ROI
