Microsoft 365 Copilot
The new Copilot does work across Home, Code and Autopilot
On 25 September 2026 Microsoft rebuilt the Copilot app around three capabilities: Home as the starting point, Code for building solutions in plain language, and Autopilot as a persistent agent that keeps working when you are away. This section teaches which capability when, and how that sits inside Microsoft 365 and the Modern Collaboration Architecture (MOCA).
Everyday AI still sits on a fixed per-user licence. Agentic work such as Cowork, Code and Autopilot runs on Copilot Credits under usage-based billing. Usage-based features stay off until an admin sets a spending policy. Confirm current rates and availability with Microsoft.

Home
Chat, Cowork and Office in one place
The new starting point. Ask, draft, and pick work up where you left off. Documents stay in sync with Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Code
Build the tool you need in plain language
Trackers, dashboards and small apps, powered by the same underlying technology as GitHub Copilot, running in a sandbox your organisation can host.
Autopilot
A persistent digital teammate
Formerly Scout. You set objectives and boundaries. It keeps working on recurring jobs while your attention is elsewhere.
MOCA answers “what am I accomplishing?” across Microsoft 365 at the individual, team, community and organisation levels. Copilot Home, Code and Autopilot sit inside that same question, not beside it.
Business optimisation makes existing work better. Business differentiation changes how the organisation competes. The Copilot Scenario Framework helps you name which kind of scenario you are teaching for.
Credits and cost
Fixed licence for everyday AI. Copilot Credits for agentic work. FinOps controls live in the Microsoft 365 admin center. Educational only — no vendor pricing.
Adoption
Adoption means habitual use that delivers tangible value, not feature tours. Teaching here maps prompting → delegating → cost awareness.
- Not a price list, credit calculator, or partner offer page
- Not a substitute for your organisation’s licence and spending policy
- Not training for developers who live in GitHub Copilot day to day — that product stays for professional developers; Code here is the Copilot-app capability for broader solution building
- Not a claim that every capability is available in every tenant today — Home and Code roll out through Frontier; Autopilot was expanding to private preview at the end of September 2026
