Accessibility
This site aims at WCAG 2.1 AA in both the light and the dark theme, tested separately, because a colour that passes in one can fail in the other.
- Semantic HTML, one h1 per page, no skipped heading levels.
- A skip-to-content link, visible when focused.
- Focus visible on every interactive element, never removed. Three pixels, offset.
- Colour is never the only signal. Links are underlined. Track names are in words as well as colour.
- Text resizes to 200% and reflows at 320px without horizontal scrolling.
- Every content image has real alternative text. Decorative graphics are hidden from screen readers.
- Video is facade-loaded and every embed requires a transcript link — the build fails without one.
- The site works with JavaScript switched off. Nothing essential depends on it.
- Motion respects prefers-reduced-motion: the cursor blink stops, and the pointer trail does not initialise at all.
- The pointer trail is absent entirely on touch devices.
- No cookie banner, because there are no cookies.
- No manual screen reader pass has been done on the lesson template. That is outstanding, and it is listed here rather than left unsaid.
- No text-to-speech. Some free providers have it built in and this does not.
- Reading age is measured automatically but has not been checked by a person who is not the writer.
- The site is English only.
